Video cables, Connectors, Ports and Cards

The RCA
Its name comes from "Radio Corporation of America" and, also known as a phono (phonograph) or cinch connector, is an electronic connector whose function is to transfer audio and video signals. They are color-coded usually with white, red (which transport left and right audio) and yellow which is for the video. When a high-end camera and audio recorder have the option of transferring through all three channels, the quality is higher. They transmit analog (non-digital) signals, and are not only used with camcorders but with TVs also.

FireWire
The official name is IEEE 1394 and it serves to "to connect different pieces of equipment so they can easily and quickly share information" (Tyson, Layton). It was first created by Apple in 1995 but then in that same year it became a universal networking standard. It is most commonly used to connect video recorders to computers but it can also be used to connect a computer to another computer. In many occasions it is compared to the USB due to its similarity. One advantage of using it is that is comes at a low cost.

Thunderbolt
"Thunderbolt technology is the fastest way to transfer data between a PC and peripheral and display devices. At 10 Gbps, Thunderbolt™ technology delivers great responsiveness with data and display transfers – in each direction, at the same time – using a single cable to connect devices in a daisy chain." That's how the official webpage describes the product. The creation by Intel concentrates mostly on speed and user-friendliness and from the collaboration of Apple, it is able to transfer a full HD movie in less than 30 seconds. (10 Gbps). It transfers video, audio, images and other medio from/to your PC to/from devices such as phones, iPods (mp3 players)... USB (2.0, 3.0)
Probably the most It stands for "Universal Serial Bus" and is a port used to connect peripheral devices (mice, video connectors, memory sticks...) USB 2.0 and 3.0 are used in the same way and are compatible with each other but 3.0 is newer and is claimed to work 10 times faster than the previous model.

Adobe Premiere Pro Description

The editing program I am going to use for this unit is going to be Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. Adobe premiere was first launched for Mac in 1991 but in 2003, it was redesigned and names Premiere Pro. It may be used by people who edit videos as a hobby as well as by professionals (one example of a movie edited with this program is “Act of Valor”)
The Tools: This program has the standard tools to edit as many other programs (a good equivalent is FinalCut) have. These include the track selector, the ripple edit tool, the rolling edit tool and the rate stretch tool. Personally, the ones I use the most are the selector, the track selector and the cutting tool.
One advantage to using Premiere is that you can use it together with the other Adobe programs very efficiently. Some of these are Photoshop, Encore and AfterEffects.

OpenOffice

OpenOffice Writer:
Usefull to write up documents with different fonts, and options concerning text. There is a toolbar/menu to select various functions and formats. You can also change the direction and size of the page. Its equivalent in Microsoft Office is Word.

OpenOffice Impress
Appropriate for slideshows and presentations since you can design several slides with both images and text. Various templates are also available. It is often compared with Microsoft PowerPoint.

OpenOffice Calc
Creates spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel does. With easy-to-use keyboard shortcuts, you can do calculations, insert formulas and organize statistics efficiently.

OpenOffice Draw
You can create vector graphics. A very interesting thing in draw are the options you have to distort figures to get the picture you want to create.

OpenOffice Math
It's just like a calculator.
